John W. Chang, MD, the Partner and Medical Director at Miami Vein Institute, is a respected figure in both general and cosmetic surgery, with a strong focus on vein treatment. Dr. Chang brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his practice, constantly updating his skills with the latest advancements in vein care to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Dr. Chang’s extensive surgical background is complemented by his specific expertise in venous and cosmetic surgery, enabling him to offer comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. Dr. Chang’s journey to medical excellence began with an honors degree from Northwestern University Medical School, followed by a rigorous training program in general and trauma surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida.
Dr. Chang graduated with honors from Northwestern University Medical School in 1997, moving forward to fulfill his general and trauma surgery internship and residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center on Miami Beach, Florida in 2002. During this period, he was also an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor. Upon completion of his duties at Mount Sinai, Dr. Chang accepted the position of attending general surgeon with Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County, Florida, sharpening his surgical skill set there for four years. In 2006, Dr. Chang selected two areas of specialization – cosmetic and venous surgery – joining the surgical team at South Florida’s renowned Guylaine Lanctot Cliniques.
While remaining a member of the surgical group at Guylaine Lanctot Cliniques, Dr. Chang joined Miami Vein Institute as partner and medical director in 2007. In 2008, he left Guylaine Lanctot Cliniques to dedicate his time toMiami Vein Institute.
“Miami Vein Institute has given me the opportunity to grow as an autonomous cosmetic surgeon,” explains Dr. Chang. “Because someone else is looking after the business of the practice, I enjoy the luxury of getting to do what I do best — and what I love — taking care of patients.

In addition to his training in general surgery, Dr. Chang has been specially trained in a number of cosmetic surgery procedures. He is certified in Liposuction, Smartlipo, Ultrasound Liposuction, Vaser and Lysonix Ultrasculpt; all injectables and fillers, such as Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse and Sculptra; and Sclerotherapy and Endovenous Laser Treatments (EVLT). Dr. Chang is a certified trainer for Smartlipo and Lysonix. Moreover, he is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Association of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society of Liposuction Surgery and the American College of Phlebology.
